AOBiome Wins Dermatology Entrepreneurship Shark Tank Contest

Cambridge, MA, December 31, 2015
AOBiome, the leading skin microbiome company, has been awarded $15K in the Dermatology Entrepreneurship Shark Tank contest for their work in the skin microbiome. After an initial application process, the company was selected to present as one of four finalists. Dr. Larry Weiss presented on behalf of the company, and AOBiome went on to win the grand prize.

On March 19th, a collection of innovators in the dermatology field gathered at the Dermatology Entrepreneurship Conference (DEC) to discuss the changes, innovations, and challenges present in the dermatology field. To encourage growth and creativity in the industry, the conference focused on the “technical stream” and “financial stream” in panels and discussions, hoping to encourage discourse and generate new ideas.

To further this discussion, the DEC created the Dermatology Entrepreneurship Shark Tank competition, providing finalists with the opportunity to present their concepts for a product or service to investors and experts. These presentations married the “technical stream” and “financial stream,” encouraging applicants to build concepts that have potential to succeed in the industry. Four finalists participated in a “Shark Tank” style competition, pitting their ideas against each other to interest investors. AOBiome is honored to have had the opportunity to present, and to accept the final award.
